Dramatic pictures show lorry flipped on its side after serious crash

Part of the A638 Chancery Road was closed for hours this morning, after a serious lorry crash. The crash, which happened on the roundabout near to Leeds Road, Ossett, left the lorry driver with minor injuries and he was taken to hospital for a check-up. It is understood that no one else was injured in the crash, which was reported to police at 6.47am today, Wednesday, January 5.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called at 6.47 to a report a lorry was in collision with a lamppost on the A638 Chancery Road in Ossett. “The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for a checkup.”

Photos from the scene show the lorry overturned with a large fuel spillage on the road, and a number of recovery vehicles in attendance.

The lorry was eventually able to be removed from the carriageway and the eastbound stretch reopened at around 10.45am.
