Hessle road still closed hours after Co-op lorry smashed into florist’s
Traffic is building up in Hessle on Sunday afternoon after a Co-op lorry smashed straight into a florist’s shop in Northgate. The incident took place at 1.52pm when a lorry crashed into Stephen Wharram Florist. Police are now warning the road could be blocked for “some time” while the lorry is recovered and damage to the building is assessed.
Police, fire service and ambulance are in attendance and the road has been blocked off. Click here for more travel and traffic news A Humberside Fire and Rescue service spokesperson said: “We got the initial call at 1.52pm, a single vehicle drove into the side of the building.
“We still have crews on the scene assisting with the council and police. All persons are accounted for.

“The driver has been assessed by paramedics on the site.” An eye witnesses said: “Drove past me walking the dog, (he drove) straight into the front of the florist.”
