Pallet-Track Raises £23,000 for Nominated 2021 Charity St Basils

Teeing off, using pedal power and sleeping rough were just a few of the creative ways Wolverhampton-based logistics network Pallet-Track raised nearly GBP23,000 for youth homelessness charity St Basils in 2021. The team at Pallet-Track chose St Basils as their nominated charity last year, supporting its work helping young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across the West Midlands. A variety of fun fundraising events took place, including a 127-mile cycle ride from Wigan to Wolverhampton and its 15th annual golf day, with wide participation from the team and the business’s shareholder members.

A brave team of six volunteers, including chief executive Caroline Green, also faced the elements to sleep rough in Birmingham city centre as part of St Basils’ Big SleepOut event, with the fundraising year wrapping up at the company’s glittering annual gala where more than GBP4,000 was raised on the night.   A donation of GBP5 enables St Basils to help a young person for one night, so the total raised by Pallet-Track will provide up to 4,600 nights of support.  Caroline Green, chief executive of Pallet-Track, said: “During our 17 years in business, we have raised tens of thousands of pounds for our nominated charities through a series of events including our golf day and gala.

“We were very impressed with St Basils’ approach to the issues facing the young people it helps on a daily basis. The work the team do makes a huge difference and we were delighted to be able to raise such a significant amount of money for this great cause. “The amount raised is a testament the generosity of the team here at Pallet-Track and our network of shareholder members.

Heading into 2021, we were unsure what fundraising activities we would be able to hold due to lockdowns and event restrictions, but thankfully we could deliver our entire plan and introduce new activities.  “We have been overwhelmed by the engagement and support of each event from across the business.”  Based in Digbeth, Birmingham, St Basils works with 16 to 25-year-olds and supports 5,000 people every year.

It needs to raise GBP1.2 million a year to maintain its support for young people, including the running of its living and working initiative, its youth village and its outreach apprenticeship schemes.

Head of fundraising and communication at St Basils, Barrie Hodge, said: “We have been truly overwhelmed by the commitment and support of Pallet Track and their members during this partnership.

“Not only have they raised an incredible amount of money for our cause, but they have completely embraced our vision for those young people in our care where homelessness is no longer part of their lives.  On behalf of all the young people we support, thank you.”
