Guildford man’s harrowing photos from Ukraine refugee crisis
Nick Tadd travelled across Europe in his truck to offer assistance to people and animals in need A Guildford man who has travelled to the Polish border with Ukraine to provide help for refugees has posted heartbreaking photos from the scene. Nick Tadd, 55, is a property investor and photographer who decided last week to make the 21-hour, 1,200-mile drive to the front line of the unfolding humanitarian crisis resulting from Russia’s invasion.
Spending GBP1,000 of his own money and the same amount donated by a friend, he filled his pick-up truck and a trailer with food, water and sanitary products from Booker Cash and Carry in Aldershot before setting off. : Horley man selling plants to raise Ukraine funds is inundated with orders With his wife Vanessa Warwick he has also set up a JustGiving page that he is now using to raise money for supplies that are urgently needed by animal sanctuaries in Ukraine, after learning that many pets have had to be abandoned by families fleeing the cities.
Mr Tadd told SurreyLive that the scenes he has witnessed at the border in Medyka, Poland, since he arrived on Saturday morning have been terrible. “It’s really upsetting,” he said. “There are a lot of young mothers and children, and they literally don’t know what to do.” Tadd now plans to stay for as long as he is needed, and with help from Vanessa he is reporting back on the situation to help others who might want to offer assistance.
