Recap as police shut A650 after lorry overturns in dramatic crash

The A650 in Wakefield was shut in both directions on Wednesday March 23 after a lorry flipped onto its side. Dramatic pictures showed a number of emergency services at the scene including Yorkshire Ambulance Service and West Yorkshire Police. The road was closed between Kenmore Road and M1 J41 (Carrgate) for around 4 hours.

: Live Yorkshire traffic news for M62, M1, A1, A64, M18 including closures, accidents and roadworks Traffic monitoring system Inrix reported: “A650 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to overturned lorry and recovery work between Kenmore Road and M1 J41 (Carrgate). “As of 12.25pm the eastbound side has been reclosed after a lorry has come to rest on the central reservation.”

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed no one has been injured in the accident.
