Cov bus taken out of service after claims cat was trapped inside

A bus in Coventry was taken out of service yesterday following claims a cat was on board. The incident happened on a number 17 National Express bus yesterday (Thursday March 31). The service runs between Fenside and University Hospital Coventry in Walsgrave via Coventry city centre and Wyken. The investigation was launched after a passenger reported hearing a cat somewhere on the bus, although the animal was not visible.

Details of the incident were shared on social media and several people expressed fears for the cat’s safety. The mysterious meowing was reported at Coventry’s Pool Meadow bus station. The bus was subsequently taken out of service and was thoroughly checked over but no cat was discovered.

A spokesperson for National Express confirmed that following the passenger’s reports the bus was taken out of service and a search carried out but no cat was discovered.

The National Express Coventry spokesperson said: “A National Express Coventry bus on the 17 service was taken out of service yesterday (Thursday March 31) following customer reports of a cat onboard.

The bus was checked thoroughly and no cat was found on the bus.”
