M25 truck fire puts motorway at a standstill

The M25 was brought to a standstill after a truck burst into flames on the motorway. There were delays up to almost an hour as drivers were held, while emergency services dealt with the incident. The blaze happened at around 8am on the anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 13 / A30 (Staines) and Junction 12 / M3.

Another nearby lorry collision contributed to the traffic, which was congested back to Junction 14 (Heathrow). There was also queues from Junction 10 (A3) on the clockwise side of the road as drivers slowed to look. : Follow this story on our live blog

One passenger took to social media to post a video of the vehicle on fire. Flames ripped through the vehicle and streams of smoke filled the air from the van, which was on the outside lane of the motorway. Pictures on traffic cameras show the emergency services were on the scene.

They were positioned in front of the truck, which had smoke billowing out across the road. All lanes have now reopened despite traffic being held this morning. Drivers are facing long queues back to Heathrow.

It is not known whether anyone was injured in the incident.
