M23 crash causes long delays near Gatwick Airport
Two lanes were closed on the M23 northbound on Friday (May 27) after a crash. The incident caused very slow traffic from Junction 9 at Gatwick Airport to Junction 8, which is the interchange with the M25. A broken down car along the same stretch of road exacerbated the problems.
The incident was first reported at 12.13pm by traffic news agency Inrix, and SurreyLive continued to monitor the situation. The affected section of road is a busy stretch of motorway serving London’s second largest airport. With Friday rush hour rapidly approaching, the incident caused longer delays than it might have done at quieter times.
