M4 Heathrow crash girl, 10, no longer in critical condition

A 10-year-old girl is no longer in a critical condition but remains in hospital after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the M4 over the May bank holiday weekend, police have confirmed. The incident happened on Sunday (May 1) near Heathrow on the M4 eastbound carriageway between junction 4 and junction 3. Five people, including the girl, were taken to a south London hospital.

The girl was believed to have had “life-threatening” injuries. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told SurreyLive : “The child is no longer in a critical condition, although she remains in hospital. At 1.43pm on Sunday, May 1, police were called following a road traffic collision involving four vehicles close to junction three of the M4 in West Drayton.

: Surrey road closures including M25, M3 and A3 for the rest of the week “Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. The London Air Ambulance landed at the scene.

A 10-year-old girl who was travelling in one of the cars has been transported by air to a south London hospital where she remains in a stable condition. “A further four people have been taken by ambulance to south and west London hospitals. Their injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to the police should call 101, providing the reference 3666/01MAY. Officers will also be keen to hear from anyone with a dashcam that captured the incident.” The road was initially closed in both directions and diversions were put in place while emergency crews attended the scene.
