Truck destroyed in dramatic fire in centre of village

Firefighters were called to the Co-op car park at around 8pm on Sunday, where the vehicle was engulfed in flames.  A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said it’s thought the truck had an electrical fault with its engine. The driver pulled into the car park as smoke began to seep out of the truck.

He ran into the store to get a fire extinguisher, but by the time he came back out, the truck was ablaze.  Dramatic images and footage emerged on social media of the fire. Firefighters from Fairweather Green were scrambled to the scene, off the high street, and brought the fire under control using a hose reel.

The truck was unsalvageable. Have you got a story for us? Email [email protected] or contact us here.
