Cute village where you can mooch around and grab coffee and cake

Surrey is known for its quaint and charming towns and villages. They always promise to be steeped in history and a perfect place to pitch up to shop, dine or even have a cute weekend break away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. However, there is one gorgeous village well worth paying a visit to if you have not done so already.

The cute village of Hindhead is the perfect place to escape. It is famously known for being home to the Devil’s Punch Bowl, a beauty spot and site of scientific interest. The Punch Bowl, now maintained by the National Trust, is a large natural amphitheatre.

In 2005, it attracted camera crews of the Seven Natural Wonders. The site offers spectacular views and is a hotspot for walkers. The “Hindhead” means “hill frequented by hinds”, or female deer.

Elsewhere in the village, a gentle stroll around the independent shops like the Grayshott Wine Company to Grayshott Pottery is perfect to look around following a walk at Devil’s Punch Bowl. Whilst mooching around why not pit stop at its gorgeous vintage horse box dishing out coffee and insanely tasty cakes. If you are not someone with a sweet tooth they also serve bacon baps.

The 1980s horse box works with local businesses and sources its coffee beans from a local roastery, Pact Coffee. The Surrey Horse Box brings people pick-me-ups all over the place and recently was providing wholesome foods at BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair. In the summer they will be heading to Hampton Court Palace Festival, Truck Festival and Towersey Festival.

So it’s well worth grabbing a coffee and cake either before heading off on a walk or whilst checking out the sites in the village.
