Long M25 delays after crash caused closure

An overturned lorry is causing five miles of traffic delays on the M25 anticlockwise today (Tuesday, June 28). The incident took place shortly before 11.40am at junction 8 near Reigate, and traffic is now queuing almost to junction 9. SurreyLive has approached the emergency services for updates about what happened and for any news on the people involved in the crash.

We will bring you any information on that as soon as we have it. National Highways said, in a tweet, that the motorway has been closed at junction 8 on the anticlockwise carriageway. Traffic is being diverted.

The area around junction 8 is a busy stretch of the M25, close to the interchange with the M23 that is regularly used by people travelling to Gatwick Airport. The congestion this lunchtime is believed to be causing delays of an hour or more at present. READ MORE: M25’s worst junctions and crash hotspots for traffic delays, according to the RAC
