Lorry fire on M3 impacts traffic

A lorry on fire on the M3 closed two lanes and caused slow traffic for much of Thursday (June 16). The incident happened by Junction 3 near Lightwater and Bagshot. Traffic monitor site Inrix reported around 10.25am: “M3 southbound entry slip road closed two lanes closed, slow traffic due to lorry fire at J3 A322 (Lightwater / Bagshot).

Lanes one and two (of four) have been closed on the main carriageway for safety.” A Surrey Fire and Rescue spokesperson told us at the time: “We received a call this morning around 10.10am to a report of a fire on the M3 between Junctions 3 to 4, Lightwater. Two fire engines were sent.

National Highways later reported that normal traffic conditions were not expected to return until between 6pm and 6.15pm.
