Police car involved in accident with HGV and skip loader
A police car trying to stop the theft of a vehicle has been left damaged after being involved in an accident with a lorry and skip loader in Byfleet. Images sent to SurreyLive yesterday show a Surrey Police car heavily damaged after colliding with the back of a vehicle belonging to waste removal business Weybridge Skip Hire. The incident occurred just before 1pm yesterday on Wintersells Road with an eye witness on the scene, who wanted to remain anonymous, saying the police car had its blue lights on when the collision happened.
A spokesperson for the force said although the vehicle was damaged, no one had been injured. They said: “This afternoon, (May 31), at around 12.45pm, a police car was involved in a minor road traffic collision on Wintersells Road, West Byfleet. A skip loader and a HGV were in collision whilst trying to avoid a police car that was responding to a report of a stolen vehicle.

No injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the collision and the road has now fully reopened.”
Weybridge Skip Hire were also contacted for comment by SurreyLive who said they would be examining their own footage and opening their own investigation into the incident.
They did confirm, however, their vehicle involved in the incident would not need to be replaced.
