Train lines blocked after vehicle strikes Esher bridge
Train lines were blocked tonight (June 22) after a vehicle struck a bridge in Esher. As a result, South Western Railwaywarned that trains may be subject to disruption, delays and even cancellation. Services between Esher and Woking were affected by the incident.
Esher, Hersham and Walton-On-Thames were not being served, says SWR. SWR announced the incident on its social media shortly after 6pm. They added that it was believed disruption would be ongoing until 9pm, although they subsequently tweeted that lines were clear before 8.30pm.
The SWR tweets read: “Due to a vehicle striking a bridge at Esher some lines are blocked. Trains may be cancelled, delayed, or revised because of this problem. “At this time, we estimate that disruption to our services will end at 21:00.
