Woman injured after car crashes into ‘famous’ pub
A woman has miraculously escaped with minor injuries after her car ploughed into the side of a “famous” pub in Warwickshire. Solihull fire service and West Midlands police and ambulance attended the scene yesterday, June 12, at The Tipperary Inn. The grey Ford Kuga crashed into the pub, in Honiley near Kenilworth, on Sunday afternoon.
The road was closed for three hours, and the female driver was discovered and treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene. Pictures from Solihull Fire Service show how the car teared into the inn, which is a a popular Italian restaurant and pub. The car appeared to have damaged the exterior wall, exposing the inside of the pub.

West Midlands Ambulance were called to the scene at 12:41pm on Sunday afternoon, and a paramedic was also in attendance. Solihull Fire service were deployed to the scene along with Bickenhill Fire service, to make the building safe.
Solihull Fire Service posted about the incident on their Facebook page. Posted on June 13, the service said: “Car into a pub yesterday, thankfully only one car involved and minor injuries to the driver, car made safe by Solihull Crew and the building made safe by Bickenhill Fire Station Technical Rescue, West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance also in attendance.”

The Tipperary Inn posted on their Facebook page shortly after the incident: “Sorry !!!!!We are closed due to precautionary measures until further notice.
Stay tuned at our website or Facebook. Thank you for your understanding.” A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance told BirminghamLive:” We were called to reports of a car that had crashed into a pub on Meer End Road, Kenilworth at 12.41pm yesterday, a paramedic officer attended the scene.
“On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was the driver of the car. She was treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”

BirminghamLive spoke to The Tipperary Inn today who confirmed that no staff or customers were hurt during the incident, and that they had re-opened for service this evening (June 13).
The Tipperary Inn is a famous local spot, as it is where It’s a Long Way to Tipperary was penned.
The Meer End Road hostelry was once the home of Harry Williams, who wrote the song a number of years before the outbreak of the First World War with music hall entertainer Jack Judge.
