Lorry crash closes A14 and queues build

The A14 has a closure in place this afternoon (Monday) after two lorries reportedly crashed. The incident has taken place between junction 39 and junction 38 westbound. Inrix, the traffic monitoring system, says the report was first made shortly before 3pm.

National Highways has warned drivers to expect delays. It said: “A14 westbound is closed – north of Newmarket – between J39 and J38. The closure is due to a collision involving 2 lorries, resulting in a ruptured fuel tank and a significant spill.

“There are 3 miles of congestion on the approach – back towards Bury St Edmunds.
