Unipart ranked the safest organisation in the world
Unipart has been further recognised for its unrelenting commitment to world class health and safety as Overall Country Winner for the third consecutive year at the British Safety Council International Safety Awards 2022. In addition to being named the safest organisation in the UK, Unipart Logistics won the British Safety Council Chief Adjudicator Award for achieving the highest-scoring application of the 647 received from around the world, and was named Transport and Storage sector winner. Award judges were particularly impressed by Unipart’s health and safety leadership, which encourages positive behaviours and ensures everyone knows their responsibility as an employee in the workplace.
Exceptional management systems and controls underpinned Unipart’s International Safety Award success, with the tools and techniques of The Unipart Way empowering every employee to continuously improve processes in their areas of the business. These management systems are set to see Unipart Logistics achieve the final certification of the ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management Standard across all its sites. Sensors are crucial to Unipart’s safety achievements, with all mechanical handling equipment across the business enhanced with cameras and lights, and alerts recorded in real time, empowering leaders and subject matter experts to run incisive trend analysis.
Andy Pyne, Unipart Logistics Divisional Operations Director, said:
“We’re delighted our commitment to world class health and safety continues to be given the utmost recognition by the British Safety Council. The commitment of our people and the robustness of our processes are the key to this success, underpinned by continuous improvement tools and techniques of The Unipart Way. The management of real-time data in recording safety activity enables our teams to best inform their creative problem solving, and make effective and sustainable process improvements using the latest digital technologies.”
Unipart will add these latest awards to more than 60 British Safety Council Swords of Honour achieved since 2011 across the Group, more than any other organisation in its sectors.
Now in their 64th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also recognise organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work. Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Unipart on their success in being named Country Winner – UK in the International Safety Awards 2022:
“The British Safety Council commends Unipart on their achievement.
The award is in recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.”
