Boy, 5, rushed to hospital after being hit by off-road bike
A five-year-old boy needs surgery after an off-road bike smashed into him as he played football. The child suffered injuries to his leg and lip during the collision on playing fields, off Kings Road, Oldham, yesterday evening (Thursday August 4). A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and released under investigation.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that they are cracking down on the use of illegal off-road bikes and drafting in more officers, following the incident. Chief Inspector Abigail Cronin for Neighbourhood Partnerships in Oldham said: “My thoughts are with the little boy who has been injured and I hope that he makes a speedy recovery.” READ MORE : Boy left with fractured skull after ‘falling off bike into passing truck’
“We understand the frustration of the local community with this type of anti-social behaviour and we want them to know that we are aware of it and have a plan in place to ensure that it is dealt with appropriately.
