Boy left with fractured skull after ‘falling off bike into passing truck’
A young boy has been left with a fractured skull after ‘falling off his bike into a passing truck’. The incident happened on Hindley Road in the Westhoughton area of Bolton on Wednesday afternoon (August 3). Police and paramedics rushed to the scene.

He had been riding his bike on the road, before falling off and being hit by the side of the truck, a spokesperson for the force said. Since the crash, the boy – whose age has not been revealed – has been receiving treatment for his fractured skull in hospital. The truck driver was ‘unaware’ that the boy had been injured, police said.
The collision is not being investigated for any prosecution. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We received the call to Hindley Road at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 3. A boy fell off his bike into the side of a passing truck.

“He sustained a fractured skull.
He was taken to hospital and is receiving treatment.” A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.10 to reports of a pushbike and a wagon. We sent a rapid response vehicle, ambulance and air ambulance.
“We took one patient, a young male, to hospital with a head injury via road ambulance.”
