Dennis Eagle signs two new fleet contracts
Dennis Eagle has signed two new fleet contracts this week, as Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon and Greenwich district councils receive orders for the brand’s new Elite+ recycling commercial vehicles (RCVs). As part of a joint deal, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon councils in the West Midlands now share a new fleet of 33 Dennis Eagle Elite+ RCVs that are operated by waste collection company Biffa – collecting recycling from roughly 126,000 households in the area where the vehicles were manufactured. Meanwhile, south of the River Thames in London, Greenwich council is putting a fleet of 27 new Elite+ RCVs to use as part of a recurring partnership with Dennis Eagle.
In addition to the RCV’s safety features and manoeuvrability that makes it a good match for tight urban streets, a Warwick council official remarked that their interest in the Elite+ chassis was sparked by commitments to “protecting the environment and tackling issues around climate change”. These RCVs are fitted with Terberg Electric bin lifts, which are quieter to operate, produce fewer emissions and reduce fuel consumption.
The Elite+ chassis was introduced last year to replace the Elite 6 chassis that has been used for refuse collection across the UK for over eight years. This new RCV is fitted with the same safety tech as its predecessor, but has a shorter wheelbase for tighter turning and a redesigned cabin that features an adjustable steering column, adjustable seating and controls trimmed in soft-touch materials.
These RCVs also offer the lowest cab entry on the market (50cm of ground clearance), and Dennis Eagle claims that the driver’s direct vision is “the best of any truck on the UK’s roads.”
