New FleetCheck Technician service is accredited for DVSA’s Earned Recognition scheme

A new FleetCheck service designed to make preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) faster and easier has been accredited for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s (DVSA) Earned Recognition scheme. Technician is available as an option for the company’s core FleetCheck fleet management software and allows PMIs to be carried out using any Android or iOS device, with the information collected automatically becoming part of each fleet’s monthly Key Performance Indicator submission to the DVSA in line with Earned Recognition’s requirements. A full audit trail of inspections for each vehicle is automatically created using the service and all PMI documents – including images and other additional information – are held in the UK at ISO27001 certificated data centres.

Peter Golding, managing director, explained:

“We’ve been recognised by the DVSA for our core system for some time but the addition of Technician means that we can now offer a complete Earned Recognition PMI and fleet management solution. This creates a major advantage for users, providing a single process covering data collection, auditing and fleet management that meets the needs of the DVSA. Everything is in one place and easily accessible.

We’ve been a keen promoter of Earned Recognition since the scheme’s creation thanks to the advantages that it creates for fleets through technology and this latest step is very much part of our ongoing commitment.”

He added that, following the DVSA approval of Technician, FleetCheck would be undertaking a marketing campaign designed to urge existing and potential customers who were not already using Earned Recognition to consider doing so. He continued:

“Earned Recognition saves time and increases accuracy for businesses operating commercial vehicles, as well as underlining their commitment to a genuine safety culture. More and more of our users – and fleets in general – are choosing to use it.

The potential benefits especially apply to operators still carrying out vehicle checks using paper-based systems for PMIs.

There’s no more laborious filling-in of inspection reports, manual inputting of data, complex filing systems or difficult-to-read handwritten entries.

Managers using Technician and Earned Recognition can easily see that they are compliant and be reassured that the potential for safety-related issues on their fleet is being minimised.”

FleetCheck Technician costs GBP1 per vehicle or trailer per month as an add-on to the core FleetCheck fleet management system.
