Two people injured in M23 lorry crash taken to hospital

An accident on the M23 caused severe delays and multiple lane closures on Tuesday (September 27). The incident involved a lorry overturning and veering off the road down an embankment. Two people were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A Surrey Police spokesperson confirmed: “Two people have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.” The accident happened just before 11am on the southbound direction of the busy motorway just after Junction 8 for the M25. The incident caused long delays in the area, with traffic tailing back for more than one mile to Reigate junction.

Congestion to the M25 anticlockwise back to J8 Reigate, and for over a mile on the clockwise exit.

“Also slow on the A22 via Blindley Heath, and the A23 via Redhill. The lorry is off the road down the embankment. Only lane four is open.”
