Metrolink line closed after car gets stuck in tunnel
A Metrolink line was blocked on Saturday morning after a car got stuck in a tram tunnel. The driver took a wrong turn and got trapped in the tunnel under Great Ancoats Street on the outskirts on Manchester city centre. The Ashton line was closed while the car was recovered.

In August woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after getting stuck in the same spot. At the time police said the driver lost her way after she had ‘too many drinks and followed her sat nav’. On Saturday morning part of the Ashton line was closed for around two hours.
Metrolink tweeted: “Due to a vehicle blocking the track, the Ashton-under-Lyne line is currently part suspended.
Services will run between Clayton Hall and Ashton-under-Lyne.”
