Woman suffers ‘life-changing injuries’ amid motorway incident

A woman has suffered ‘life-changing injuries’ after an incident on the M66 last night. Emergency services scrambled to the M66 southbound, between junctions one and two, on Saturday evening (October 15) at around 5:30pm. Their presence was triggered by the police receiving a ‘concern of welfare’ report.

Now, a police spokesperson has issued an update on the incident. In a statement for the Manchester Evening News , the force said: “Greater Manchester Police received a report at around 5:30pm on Saturday, 15 October 2022 regarding the concern for the welfare of an adult female near to the M66 motorway (J1-2), Bury. “Emergency services attended to assist at the scene where she was taken to hospital for treatment to what are believed to be life changing injuries and remains there at this time.”

It is thought police were assisted by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulances at the scene. As of Sunday morning (October 16), the M66 is moving freely, with no live incidents taking place. Get today’s top stories here.
