A3 crash leaves person in hospital as lane closed for several hours
A person has been taken to hospital following a four-vehicle crash on the A3. The incident happened during the morning rush hour on Tuesday (December 6) and at one stage caused 45 minute delays with queues stretching back five miles to Thursley. Both ambulance crews, fire engines and police were called out to the incident on the northbound carriageway near Shackleford, which forced the closure of one lane of the A3 and caused an oil spillage.
In a statement a spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) confirmed they treated someone at the scene for injuries. “SECAmb was called shortly before 7.30am today to reports of an RTC on the A3 near Shackleford. Ambulance crews attended and one person, whose injuries included an arm injury, was assessed and treated before being taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.”
