A Harry Styles merchandise truck has been stolen in Brazil, police have confirmed today, after initially suggesting a van containing his instruments had been taken.

The van is thought to have been driving towards the city of Curitiba, south of Sao Paulo, on Friday along a major highway when it was stopped by three men – two of them armed – and taken.

Police initially said the van was being driven by Styles’ crew and contained instruments used by his supporting band, with the report being picked up by Brazil’s largest news channel G1.

However, officers later clarified to say that the truck was actually filled with Harry Styles merchandise and was not part of the touring party.

Cops say the driver was ‘subdued’ by the three robbers, who have not yet been tracked down.

The van has also not been recovered.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Harry Styles for comment.

Love On Tour was initially scheduled to take place in 2020 – with shows in Brazil in October that year – but the Covid pandemic forced it to be suspended.

It finally got underway in September last year with a gig in Las Vegas and will finish in July next year in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Between those two dates, the British singer/songwriter is due to play 84 shows in 22 countries, including four dates in Brazil.

The first took place in Sao Paulo on December 6 followed by Rio on December 8.

Curitiba was due to take place on December 10, with the Brazil leg concluding with two shows in Sao Paulo on the 13th and 14th.
