Horror smash caused by ‘medical episode’ as police close major road

Pictures show a horror smash on a major Stockport road this morning. Emergency services were scrambled to the scene of the crash on A5145 Didsbury Road at 7:30am. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say the incident was caused by a ‘medical episode’.

The road is now open, but ‘accident investigation work’, continues. Pictures from the scene show a black truck pulled onto the pavement of the road with a large dent in the side of the car. The exact nature of the injuries are not yet known.

READ MORE: Horror smash on major Stockport road The area remains congested, with queueing traffic. According to online traffic reporting system Inrix, the road has reopened but there is congestion to roads around Stockport and Heaton Moor as people diverted around the earlier closure.

The road was closed in both directions

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) have been contacted for comment.
