Surrey’s quietest train station used by just 33 people a day

Surrey’s busiest and quietest train stations have been revealed with the county’s largest town coming out on top. Passenger data collected between April 2021 and March 2022 has shown Guildford had the highest number of passenger entries, exits and interchanges. A total of 4,283,840 passed through the station during this time, only rivalled by Woking station which experienced 4,070,300 visits over the same time period.

The top five was rounded off by other commuter towns such as Epsom (2,334,196), Redhill (2,052,974) and Staines (1,618,230.) Just eight stations in the county made it above the one million mark. Elsewhere the quietest station in the county was the village of Betchworth in the borough of Mole Valley located around 3 miles east of Dorking. Just 12,152 passenger entries, exits and interchanges were reported through the station between April 2021 and March 2022.

Stations in Surrey were relatively quiet compared to others across the UK with only Guildford and Woking making the top 100 list nationally.

Betchworth meanwhile sits in the same company as Bootle in Cumbria and the small village of Hope in North East Wales.
