Huge vehicle stopped for driving too quickly on M6 near Coventry
Huge lorries caught going too quick or having too much weight were pulled over on the M6 near Coventry. The large loads were led in to Corley Services on Wednesday (January 25). Warwickshire Police’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) ran a check site at the services on the northbound side of the M6 between junctions 3 and 4.
One vehicle was stopped as it should have been going no faster than 40mph under a Special Types General Orders. The Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency – whose officers had joined police at Corley – checked the vehicle’s tachometer which clocked the vehicle at 43mph to 45mph with an insecure load. This resulted into a ticket being issued and vehicle prohibited by the Traffic Commissioners.

A ticket was issue and the vehicle was prohibited until weight was reduced.
Another brought to the check site was a vehicle over 43.3ft and over 2.9 metres wide, but had no movement order submitted.
The vehicle can now not move whilst the order is processed which requires two working days, so it will remain at the site until Saturday.
