Man rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Sheffield

A 70-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Sheffield earlier this afternoon (Monday, January 16). The accident happened sometime before 2pm between Tapton House Road and Fulwood Road in Sheffield City Centre. The injured man was walking along Manchester Road when he was hit by a grey Honda CR-V.

Diversions are in place at the time of writing and, including bus services on multiple routes. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We were called shortly before 2pm this afternoon (16 January) to reports of a road traffic collision on the A57 (Manchester Road) in Sheffield. “Officers attended and it was found that a pedestrian had been in a collision grey Honda CR-V.

The pedestrian, a 70-year-old man, has been taken to hospital.” A spokesperson added: “Officers remain at the scene whilst enquiries continue and the A57 remains closed between Tapton House Road and Chesterwood Drive. The public are asked to avoid the area to allow officers to carry out their work.”
