Northants drink drivers banned for total of 28 years through police campaign
Those drivers caught and charged with drink driving in Northamptonshire over Christmas have been disqualified from driving for a total of over 28 years by the Magistrates Courts. The sentences of seventeen drivers caught during Northamptonshire Police‘s annual drink driving campaign over the festive period were released by the Force today, January 11. They were also fined a combined total of GBP6,739.
Over six weeks, Northants Police named and shamed all those they charged with drink or drugs driving between November 21 and New Years. The operation is usually a four-week crack-down over December, but police extended the campaign in 2022 to six weeks to include the FIFA World Cup 2022. If they are involved in a collision, they risk up to six months in prison, an unlimited fine and a substantial driving ban.
