Barclays announces the exact closing date for Loughton branch

Barclays has announced today (March 27) plans to close down 14 more UK bank branches and the official date of when an Essex branch will permanently close. The upcoming closure will occur in June and comes on top of the 55 branches the British bank company revealed would shut this year the Mirror reports[1].

This latest closure means 69 banks are expected to shut down by the end of 2023. This fresh collection of closures consists of the Loughton bank, on High Road, which is expected to close on June 22.

Barclays customers who require in-person assistance have a few options if their neighbourhood branch is closing. The bank operates pop-up websites and is launching new “banking pods,” which are temporary sites that can be transferred to various towns and locales based on demand.

Barclays currently operates 200 pop-up sites and has stated that it will add another 70 in the future. It also runs ten “banking pods.”

In addition, it also does an educational and support van service for customers who need financial advice on things like business setups and saving for prospect new homeowners.

Clients can also use a few services at Post Office locations, such as depositing cash and checks, checking their balances, and withdrawing cash. Banks up and down the country have been shutting their doors due to more customers shopping online.

HSBC has said it will shutter 114 banks – around a quarter of its total sites – in 2023. Lloyds is closing 36 banks in total this year, while NatWest currently has said it will shut 66 sites in 2023.
