Cars left burnt out after huge fire at Essex yard this morning
Fire crews rushed to a yard in the early hours of this morning (March 22) after two tonnes of tyres and several vehicles had caught fire. Essex firefighters were dispatched to a yard in London Road, Southend, at around 2:10am On Wednesday morning. Crews from Southend, Leigh, South Woodham Ferrers and Rochford all attended.
The incident commander reported two tonnes of tyres and a number of vehicles were on fire. Photos shared by the force show cars completely ruined and burnt out following the blaze.

In one photo, three cars and a food truck are blackened. Four firefighters are seen inspecting the scene whilst smoke continues to rise into the air.
In another image, damage to fencing can be seen. Incident Commander David Gomez said: “Our crews did a fantastic job of surrounding the fire and stopping it from spreading to nearby buildings.
“It was thanks to their hard work and skill that we managed to quickly bring it under control and extinguish it within 90 minutes.”
Fire officers will now carry out an investigation to determine the cause.
