Delays on A120 near Colchester easing after lorry jack-knifed on road

Long delays on the A120 after a lorry jack-knifed lorry on the road on Tuesday (March 28). The incident took place between the A1232 (Crown interchange, Colchester) and the A133 (Hare Green Interchange, Great Bromley).

Emergency services were at the scene to help deal with the situation – with the lorry’s fuel tank reported to have been damaged. The road was completely shut to traffic but had reopened by 7pm.

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “Jackknifed lorry removed on A120 Eastbound from A1232 (Crown interchange, Colchester) to A133 (Hare Green Interchange, Great Bromley). No recent updates. All major delays have now eased.”

Speaking at the time of the incident, an Essex County Fire and Rescue Service[1] spokesperson said: “We’re currently at the scene on the A120 Ardleigh (east bound) where a lorry has jack-knifed causing damage to the fuel tank containing 450 litres of diesel. Working with our colleagues from Colchester fire station, we are working hard to contain the fuel and assist with recovery operations.”
