THERE were delays on a busy route in Dorset – due to sheep on the road.
Reportedly sheep made their way onto the westbound stretch of the A35 near Dorchester.
They partially blocked the route between the Stadium Roundabout and Monkeys Jump Roundabout.
A statement from traffic monitoring service INRIX at 11.53 am said: “A35 Westbound partially blocked, queueing traffic due to sheep on road between A354 Weymouth Road (Football Ground Roundabout) and A37 (Monkeys Jump Roundabout).”
A later update revealed that traffic flow had returned to normal after the sheep were shepherded off the road and to safety at around 12.10pm.
A Dorset Police statement said: “We received a report at 11.37am of an injured sheep on the A35 Dorchester bypass.
“The relevant farmer has been located and has been notified.”
Drivers were urged to approach the area with caution and allow extra time for their journey.
