M25 closed near Heathrow airport after ‘serious’ collision involving …

The M25 has been closed clockwise following a "serious" collision near Heathrow Airport this morning (Tuesday, March 28). The closure is between junction 14 (Stanwell Moor/Heathrow Airport) and junction 16 (M40).

National Highways confirmed the incident and the closure on social media earlier this morning. It said a lorry and car were involved.

Its alert on social media reads: "The M25 is now closed clockwise between J14 (StanwellMoor/HeathrowAirport) and J16 (M40) due to a serious collision.

Traffic monitor Inrix description of the incident reads: "M25 clockwise closed due to accident from J14 A3113 Airport Way (Heathrow) to J15 M4 J4B."

A diversion is now in place. Drivers can exit the M25 at junction 14 before rejoining after a stint on the M40. Motorists planning on commuting in the coming hours should avoid the area and plan an alternative route.

On its website National Highways describes the collision as a "serious incident". It says: "Our East Regional Operations Centre were notified of the collision just before midnight. Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene.

"Please note, the collision has occurred between J14 and J15, due to the M4/M25 link roads being closed for planned overnight roadworks traffic is being diverted back on to the M25 at J16."
