Motorcyclist seriously injured after crash near Essex Morrisons

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on a busy Essex roundabout, near a Morrisons store this afternoon (March 20). The air ambulance, along with two ambulances and an ambulance officer were sent on blue lights and sirens to Northwick roundabout in Canvey Island at around 3.10pm today following reports of a crash.

When they arrived, they found one man, a motorcyclist, had been seriously injured. He was then rushed by road to the Royal London Hospital, the ambulance service has said.

The road was partially closed in both directions near to the Morrisons while emergency services treated the patient and managed traffic around the roundabout. The road was reopened at around 3.50pm.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called the Northwick Roundabout, Canvey Island this afternoon following reports of a motorcyclist injured in a road traffic collision. One man with serious injuries was transported by road ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.”

Essex Police have also been contacted for further information about this incident.
