Police ID man who died after driver crashed into garbage truck in …
EMMET COUNTY, MI – Deputies have identified a garbage attendant who was killed[1] when he was struck by another vehicle in Northern Michigan.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office told 9&10 News[2] that Brent Thomas Irons Jr., 34, of Wolverine was hit while standing next to his truck, which was parked on the side of Intertown Road between Anderson and Cemetery roads in Bear Creek Township at 8:01 a.m. on Thursday.
Irons was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the pickup truck was transported to McLaren-Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey for treatment before being released.
An investigation is ongoing, but deputies said speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Petoskey Department of Public Safety, Michigan State Police, Resort-Bear Creek Fire Department, Emmet County EMS and the Emmet County Road Commission.
