3 killed, 2 critical after car and pickup truck collide on Ahmednagar …
Three people were killed and two others were critically injured after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a pickup truck at a village on the Ahmednagar-Kalyan Highway in the Pune district Monday night.
Officials at the Otur police station under Pune Rural jurisdiction said the accident took place around 9.30 pm at Watkhal village, around 130 kilometre from Pune City.
“There were six passengers in the Innova car. The primary probe suggests that the car driver lost his control leading to the head-on collision with the pickup truck. After receiving information from local residents, teams from the Otur police station rushed to the spot and moved the accident victims to the government hospital in Aalephata,” said an officer from Pune[1] rural police.
“Three people were pronounced dead by the doctors at the hospital. Two are being treated for multiple serious injuries. One passenger from the car has sustained minor injuries,” the officer added.
The driver of the pickup truck also sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Due to the impact of the collision, the car suffered heavy damages leading to grievous injuries to the five passengers and the subsequent death of three of them.
The names of the deceased and the injured were yet to be shared by the police.
