A11 remains closed after Cambridgeshire crash that saw lorry …

A busy Cambridgeshire road remains closed on Tuesday afternoon (April 11) after a lorry overturned. Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway of the A11 between Abington and Balsham[1] shortly after 9.30am.

The vehicle’s driver was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. Police said their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue[2] said: “Crews were called to a road traffic collision on the A11 near Balsham at 9.39am this morning. The collision involved a lorry. One person was out of their vehicle on arrival. Firefighters assisted with containing a fuel leak, before returning to their stations by 10.30am.”

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at about 9.30am today (11 April) with reports of an overturned lorry on the A11 at Balsham. Emergency services attended and the driver of the lorry was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Details of injuries are not clear at this stage but are not thought to be life-threatening.

“The road remains closed while recovery of the lorry takes place. No other vehicles were involved.”
