A14 and A11 both closed after Cambs ‘police incident’

The A14[1] and A11 Cambridgeshire are closed tonight (Thursday, April 13) due to a police incident. The A14 closure is in place on the eastbound carriageway between J35 for Stow Cum Quy and J37 for Newmarket[2] – with the A11 northbound also shut.

First reported shortly after 5pm by traffic monitoring system Inrix, there are currently reported queues of around 30 minutes. According to National Highways, emergency services including Cambridgeshire Police are in attendance.

National Highways Traffic Officers are also on the scene assisting with traffic management. Traffic is being diverted via local routes.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A14 in Cambridgeshire is closed eastbound between J33 (Milton) and J37 (Newmarket) due to a Police led incident. As a result, the A11 northbound is also closed from the A1304 (Six Mile Bottom) to the A14 at J36. All Emergency services are in attendance, with Cambridgeshire Police leading the scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.”
