The incident took place at around 1.10pm and is believed to have involved two cars and a lorry. National Highways announced the incident just after 1.15pm this afternoon, saying “traffic Officers are on scene and recovery is on route.”
Delays of up to 45 minutes were created but three miles of congestion stretching back to junction 7, with roads in Kettering also becoming congested as a result. The incident was cleared in just over an hour and the roads fully reopened just after 2.15pm.
A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police[4] said “One driver was taken to hospital as a precaution. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. The vehicles required recovery however.”
