A5 closed for a number of hours as PSNI investigate fatal crash

Part of the A5 road in Co Tyrone will be closed on Monday night, April 3 as the PSNI[1] investigates the circumstances of a fatal road crash last September.

Niall McDonald, 44, died in the collision on the A5 Tullyvar Road near Aughnacloy on Monday, September 26, 2022.

Police will return to the scene between 10pm on Monday and 1am on Tuesday as part of the investigation into the crash, which involved one vehicle and the deceased, who had been a pedestrian.

Drivers have been asked to seek an alternative route for their journey in the area.

“Police are advising motorists that the A5 Tullyvar Road from Augnacloy to Annaghilla Road Roundabout, will be closed on Monday, 3rd April from 10pm until 1am on Tuesday, 4th April,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

“The closure is to facilitate the investigation into a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in the area on Monday, 26th September 2022.

“Diversions will be in place via A28 towards Augher. Drivers are asked to seek an alternative route for their journeys where possible.

“We thank the public for their patience as this is carried out.”
