ABINGTON TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — The driver of a soda delivery truck was injured in a possible incident of road rage Wednesday in Abington Township, Montgomery County.
It happened around 8:20 a.m. at The Fairway and Rydal Road.
Investigators say a delivery truck driver allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the drinks truck driver at least once.
The truck driver was injured and taken to Abington Hospital for treatment.
However, it was not immediately clear whether the truck driver was shot or otherwise injured.
The driver of the van fled, but Abington Police were able to locate a “person of interest” in the case about an hour later.
This man is now being interrogated by the authorities.
Abington Police Chief Steven Fink said the most troubling part of this shooting was that incidents like this were no longer uncommon.
“I’m sorry to say that with the gun violence we’re hearing about, this is becoming more common. The number of guns that our officers take off the streets, the criminals they encounter with these guns, I’ve seen that twice over the past few years,” said Fink.
The truck driver’s injuries were comparatively minor.
The name of the interested person was not published.
