Air ambulance crew called to the scene after child, 13, hit by car

A main route in Norwich has been closed this afternoon after a child was hit by a car. The incident happened at around 11.10am this morning (April 14) on Aylsham Road near the junction with Mile Cross Lane. Police attended the scene and a road closure was put in place.

Traffic in the area has remained busy this afternoon whilst the closure remains in place. It is affecting traffic travelling into the city past Norwich Airport and along Mile Cross Lane and Boundary Road. It’s not clear how long the road closure will remain in place for.

A spokesperson from the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.05am to the junction of Aylsham Road and Woodcock Road with reports of that a child had been hit by a car.

“Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, a rapid response vehicle and a response car from the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. The patient, a 13-year-old boy, was transported by road to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

There are no details as to what kind of injuries the boy sustained but the he was declared as major trauma negative. Norfolk Police are asking anyone who witnesses the collision to get in touch with their Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or by emailing [email protected] quoting CAD 130.
