BMW driver banned from driving after hitting boy, 10, as he sped off …
A BMW driver who sped off from police and hit a 10-year-old boy has been banned from driving[1].
Sandris Hauberts, 24, admitted driving dangerously as he careered across a roundabout in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent[2], back in September 2018.
Hauberts was disqualified for two years after he lost control of his car and collided with the young boy, the Stoke Sentinel reports[3].
Officers in an unmarked car saw the young man driving his BMW towards them at speed in Normacot Road, Longton.
Prosecutor Lee Stone told North Staffordshire Justice Centre[4]: “The BMW accelerated away and drove on the A50[5] at excessive speed.
“He turned left towards Lightwood Road. It failed to negotiate the roundabout and travelled straight over it colliding with street furniture. There was extensive damage to the BMW.

“Hauberts was getting out of the driver’s seat when officers arrived and detained him. It was discovered he was a disqualified driver. He was disqualified from driving on September 19, 2018 for two years but he needed to pass an extended test which he has not yet done.”
Hauberts, of Holly Place, Heron Cross, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance.
Neil O’Driscoll, defending, said Hauberts admitted his wrongdoing.
“He made full and frank admissions to the police in interview,” he explained.
“He said he knew he had been disqualified from driving and he should not have been driving. He stated the standard of driving was below that of a competent driver.
“He was doing 80mph on the A50[7], a 50mph road. He lost control.”
Magistrates sentenced Hauberts to a 12 month community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement for 20 days. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £135 costs and a £114 surcharge.
He was banned from driving for 12 months.
