Comedian and former co-host[1] of The Frank Skinner Show, Gareth Richards, is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious road accident earlier this week. Frank Skinner broke down in tears as he told listeners on his Saturday Absolute Radio show about Richards’ injuries, describing the accident as “very big” and stating that “it’s not looking great for Gareth”`
Accident details
It is believed that Richards was involved in a collision on the M25 close to Heathrow Airport on Monday night. The crash, which involved two cars and a lorry, closed the motorway for more than 10 hours. One person had to be cut free from a car and was treated for head and chest injuries by the London Ambulance Service. Friendship and history with Skinner
Richards had co-hosted The Frank Skinner Show with Emily Dean and Skinner since its pilot episode in 2009. Skinner praised him during the show, describing him as a “fantastic bloke” who had supported him on tour previously. Skinner dedicated part of his show to informing his listeners of the news and encouraged them to pray for Richards.
Police statement
According to a statement issued by the Metropolitan police, the crash occurred at junction 14 of the M25 at 11.55pm on Monday night. It is described as involving “a HGV and two cars”. The driver of one of the cars was taken to hospital and his injuries were deemed “life-threatening” by authorities.
