Cornwall Asda fail after 4×4 gets stuck on grass bank at Bodmin store

They do say that patience is a virtue but for one supermarket shopper, waiting to get out was just too much and they ended getting their 4×4 stuck on a steep grass bank when trying to cut a corner. Bemused shoppers at the Asda store in Bodmin[1] could not believe their eyes when they spotted one angry impatient driver trying to get out without having to queue like everyone else and getting stuck.

The 4×4 driver was so frustrated with having to wait 10 minutes to get out of the busy car park on this Easter Monday that they attempted to escape by driving up the grassy bank out of store – to disastrous results. Fellow shopper Anna-Louise Mathieson who witnessed the hilarious scene said the incident happened shortly after 2pm this afternoon [April 10] just after she had come out of the store and done her own shopping.

She said: “We went to Asda for some general shopping. It took us about 10 minutes to get to a parking space. It was so busy there were some Asda[2] staff who were having to direct the traffic caused by late Easter Monday shoppers. The car park was packed.”

She added: “By the look of it, this 4×4 had enough of waiting so tried to climb up the grass verge, got stuck and couldn’t even reverse back off because their towbar got stuck behind the kerb at the bottom of the verge. I think Asda definitely needs to consider an additional exit.”

Anna-Louise said the unfortunate driver was eventually pulled back up the bank by another 4×4 using a tow rope.

She added: “Another 4×4 used a tow rope to help them up the verge. I think they were stuck there about 10 to 20 minutes which is longer than they would have been waiting in the queue to get out the sensible way.”
