Cornwall’s A39 crowned second best road in the UK
The A39 in Cornwall has been crowned one of the best roads in the UK for delivery drivers. The scenic Atlantic Highway is officially the second best road of AO’s latest survey.
The A39 runs from Barnstaple in north Devon, down to Fraddon, on the outskirts of Newquay[1]. Its views have been praised over the years with on one side of the road increasingly wild hills and, on the other, some of Britain’s best coastline.
Delivery service AO recently conducted a survey and asked its delivery drivers what road in the UK they love the most. Scotland’s A9 came first, however Cornwall[2]‘s Atlantic Highway came second – beating Devon’s A38[3] Expressway which still made it to the top five.
According to delivery drivers, the most important criteria are whether a road is long and clear and the scenery. AO also asked the public which road they think is the best in the country.
